Job Overview

The role of the Maintenance Technician at QuantumPoly Innovations is vital for maintaining the operational efficiency and dependability of our plastic packaging production machinery. This position entails the upkeep and repair of equipment utilized in the manufacturing of PET bottles, high-barrier films, thermoformed containers, and injection-molded caps for the food and beverage sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on plastic processing machinery, including injection molders, thermoforming machines, and extrusion lines.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of auxiliary systems such as cooling towers, chillers, and material handling equipment.
  • Collaborate with machine operators and supervisors to swiftly address technical challenges and reduce downtime.
  • Develop and implement solutions for recurring issues to enhance overall equipment performance.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with schedules and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Support production operations during peak periods or staff shortages.
  • Document all maintenance activities, parts utilized, and equipment performance metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to food-grade manufacturing standards and safety regulations.
Essential Functions:
  • Interpret technical drawings and schematics related to plastic processing equipment.
  • Calibrate and optimize machinery performance for various packaging products.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC systems and HMIs utilized in packaging production lines.
  • Generate detailed reports on equipment status and suggest enhancements to boost productivity.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment and comply with all safety protocols.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in a maintenance role, ideally within plastic manufacturing or food packaging.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment for plastic processing machinery.
  • Basic computer skills for operating modern manufacturing equipment and documenting work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals for plastic processing and packaging equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in plastics engineering technology, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in plastic packaging or food/beverage packaging industries.
  • Hands-on experience with injection molding, thermoforming, and extrusion processes.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and food-grade packaging requirements.
  • Familiarity with Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC systems used in packaging automation.
  • Experience with servo motors, pneumatic systems, and temperature control units common in plastic processing.
  • Understanding of polymer behavior and plastic material handling systems.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills for equipment modifications and repairs.
