Position Title: Plant Mechanic

Position Overview: The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment in accordance with layout plans, blueprints, and detailed instructions within industrial settings. This role encompasses multiple crafts, requiring candidates to possess experience in welding and pipefitting, alongside strong mechanical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting blueprints and schematic diagrams to determine operational procedures; disassembling machinery; relocating equipment as necessary.
  • Assembling and installing machinery, followed by testing to ensure proper functionality.
  • Adhering strictly to established safety regulations.
  • Coordinating the layout and positioning of machinery in production environments to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical issues by conducting tests, performing temporary repairs, or replacing components.
  • Removing outdated machinery and installing new systems.
  • Conducting preventive maintenance by identifying potential problems, replacing worn parts, and lubricating mechanical components.
  • Utilizing equipment such as forklifts to transport mechanical parts.
  • Assembling and installing various types of equipment, including conveyors, pumps, compressors, and turbines.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Executing welding and pipefitting tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Preferred: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in mechanical, welding, or pipefitting roles.

Physical and Job Site Requirements:

  • Ability to complete electronic hiring documentation.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess sufficient strength and stamina to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Ability to navigate confined spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Full range of motion consistent with age.
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
  • Adequate hearing to respond to voice commands and alarms.
  • Visual acuity and depth perception necessary for working at heights and on uneven surfaces.
  • Steel-toe safety shoes are mandatory.
