Position Title: Plant Mechanic

Position Overview: The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment, adhering to layout plans, blueprints, and written specifications within industrial environments. This role encompasses multiple crafts, requiring candidates to possess skills in Welding and Pipefitting alongside robust mechanical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams to ascertain work procedures; disassemble machinery; relocate equipment as necessary.
  • Assemble and install machinery, conducting tests to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Adhere strictly to approved safety protocols.
  • Manage the arrangement and positioning of equipment in manufacturing settings to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and rectify malfunctioning components by performing tests, executing temporary repairs, or installing new parts.
  • Deconstruct outdated machinery and replace it with new installations.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance by identifying potential issues, replacing worn components, and lubricating mechanical parts.
  • Utilize equipment such as forklifts to transport mechanical components.
  • Assemble and install various equipment, including shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Execute all work safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Conduct Welding and Pipefitting tasks.

Qualifications:

Preferred: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in mechanical work, welding, and pipefitting.

Physical and Job Site Requirements:

  • Ability to complete hiring documentation electronically.
  • May need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to perform the technical duties outlined.
  • Capability to navigate confined spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Full range of motion appropriate for age.
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
  • Must be able to hear and respond to verbal commands and alarms from colleagues and equipment.
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, and color discrimination necessary for working at heights and on uneven surfaces.
  • Safety/Steel toe footwear is mandatory.
