Position Overview: As an Automotive Technician B, you will play a crucial role as a skilled technician, contributing significantly to product expertise and quality standards within the branch.
Technicians in this role are expected to be well-versed in the standard operating procedures at the branch, regional, and national levels, serving as mentors to entry-level mechanics.
The primary responsibility of a Herc Rentals Automotive Technician B is to leverage mechanical expertise to facilitate fleet maintenance operations, ensuring that Herc Rentals equipment remains available for rental.
This objective is achieved through a robust preventative and corrective maintenance program, executed safely and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a regular schedule for performing preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet at your branch.
- Operate and test equipment to verify compliance with Herc Rentals' quality and efficiency standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on all fleet equipment and trucks with minimal oversight.
- Diagnose issues in internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
- Execute major repairs on fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments with minimal supervision.
- Perform oil changes, equipment lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and various other services.
- Utilize warranty repair timeframes to save and document parts, ensure accuracy of parts and labor on work orders, or contact vendors as necessary.
- Enter work orders and manage part ordering through the fleet management system.
- Recondition and replace various components of heavy equipment.
- Identify significant wear or tear on equipment and diagnose problem areas.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
Professional Experience:
- Ability to comprehend detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
- Ownership of a comprehensive selection of hand and air/electric tools to perform most repairs and services.
- Capability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps, and assorted tools.
- Proficient computer skills for entering information into systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong teamwork abilities.
Educational Background: High School Diploma or equivalent.
