POSITION OVERVIEW

Sciens Building Solutions is on the lookout for a skilled Fire Safety Systems Specialist who possesses expertise in programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems. This role is pivotal in collaborating with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure effective design and flawless installation of our fire alarm solutions. Attention to detail is crucial in executing projects successfully, and the ability to foster strong relationships with both customers and colleagues is essential. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are vital components of this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review system designs and coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Conduct field surveys and maintain daily logs of project activities.
  • Program and commission intricate fire alarm systems, ensuring final acceptance by clients and relevant authorities.
  • Create comprehensive commissioning and inspection reports in line with NFPA standards.
  • Handle complex troubleshooting and provide effective solutions.
  • Ensure timely project delivery within budget constraints.
  • Utilize laptop computers for system programming.
  • Oversee project inventory and manage vehicle supplies.
  • Offer support and expertise to fellow technicians.
  • Assist in managing job schedules and progress efficiently, prioritizing quality.
  • Demonstrate equipment operation to clients and instruct them on responding to system alerts.
  • Adhere to industry standards and Sciens safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a technician role within the fire-life safety sector.
  • Proficient in programming and commissioning mid-range fire alarm systems independently.
  • Ability to terminate fire alarm control units and field equipment with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication skills for effective coordination with onsite contractors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of fire alarm circuit integrity and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Basic computer skills related to software installation and usage.
  • Capability to demonstrate proper equipment operation.
  • NICET I certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with state fire regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to interpret fire system design schematics.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication abilities.
  • Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and working at heights.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for work-related purposes.
  • Must pass background checks and pre-employment drug screenings.
  • Valid driver's license required.
