Position Overview

We are currently seeking a full-time Systems Integration Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Patterned Flow Cell Research and Development, this role will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, optical, and software engineers, as well as scientists, to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and enhance system efficiency. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting flow cell development, manufacturing processes, and scaling commercial operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis and troubleshooting of intricate systems and equipment to determine root causes of issues and implement effective resolutions.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, optical, and software engineers, along with scientists, to address technical challenges and optimize system performance.
  • Execute testing protocols to validate instrument functionality, diagnose failures, and recommend enhancements.
  • Ensure proper integration of core modules, encompassing optics, motion controls, fluidics, and more.
  • Maintain instrument functionality and perform sequencing operations.
  • Collaborate with engineers to establish new process parameters and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Assist in flow cell development and the scaling of manufacturing processes, executing fabrication tasks such as inspections, photoresist coating, and flow cell assembly.
  • Gather and analyze data to support process characterization and ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and experimental test plans.
  • Perform additional work-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Biochemical, Materials, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience.
  • Experience with biotechnology instrumentation and fluidic systems (pumps, tubing, valves, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Quick learner, proficient in using computers and new software applications.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and skilled in precise, delicate hands-on tasks.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to rapidly changing requirements and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
  • Experience with verification and validation (V&V), design of experiments (DOE), root cause analysis (RCA), and rapid prototyping.
  • Familiarity with basic programming languages (Matlab, Python, Java, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of core principles in mathematics and sciences, including mechanics, electronics, and basic biology.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or microfabrication is advantageous.
  • Background in wet processing, visual inspections, and assembly for chip fabrication is a plus.
