Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Research and Development (R&D) testing of custom industrial equipment, including:
    • Executing tasks according to approved test plans and procedures.
    • Documenting activity sequences in test logs.
    • Monitoring equipment instrumentation.
    • Collecting and analyzing data.
    • Composing test reports.
  • Collaborate with Facility Managers to plan and conduct maintenance outages.
  • Lead or participate in Job Hazards Analyses (JHA), safety assessments, and inspections necessary for operating high-temperature and high-pressure systems.
  • Support procurement of components, consumables, and facilities to maintain operational equipment.
  • Conduct calibration routines on various equipment and instruments.
  • Extract information from engineering drawings, specifications, and datasheets.
  • Engage in technical reviews of design documents and drawings, including Process Flow Diagrams, Control/Logic Diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Technical Specifications.
  • Execute tasks in accordance with documented work packages.
  • Create and update operating manuals, test plans, and procedures.
  • Conduct inspections and walkthroughs of equipment and process areas.
  • Assemble, install, troubleshoot, test, and repair specialized equipment.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analyses with quality personnel and supporting staff.

Mechanical Systems:

  • Provide input on the selection of equipment and components (e.g., valves, pumps, gaskets, insulation, fittings, instrumentation).
  • Conduct leak testing on gas, vacuum, and liquid systems.
  • Perform maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Execute hoisting and rigging in accordance with approved lift plans.

Instrumentation & Controls:

  • Select control systems to automate equipment operations.
  • Develop instrumentation plans, wiring diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and logic diagrams.
  • Review and provide input to control system narrative documents.
  • Lead implementation and updates to data acquisition systems.
  • Assemble and wire UL listed AC and DC electrical control panels.
  • Program Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Develop and modify HMI interfaces.

Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Engineering Technology or a related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
  • Successful completion of drug screening.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
