Position Overview

This role provides an opportunity to leverage your expertise in transmission line engineering, focusing on aspects such as conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles. You will be responsible for:
  • Designing transmission lines within the voltage range of 69kV to 765kV.
  • Conducting structural analysis and designing various types of structures including pole, lattice, framed, and guyed configurations.
  • Executing foundation design tasks.
  • Performing conductor selection studies, as well as shielding, grounding, and induction analyses.
  • Creating cost estimates and schedules while preparing specifications for the procurement of materials and construction services.
  • Specifying components essential for transmission lines.
  • Modeling transmission lines using PLS-CADD, determining right-of-way requirements, calculating conductor sags, and producing plan and profile drawings.
  • Reviewing vendor submissions for compliance and accuracy.

Work Arrangement

This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing you to work in the office three days a week while providing the flexibility to work remotely for two days. Depending on your location, a generous relocation package may be available.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in transmission line engineering.
  • Experience through internships or cooperative education programs is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software.
  • Understanding of engineering principles as they apply to transmission line design.
  • Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles for creating technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Competence in MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Valued Skills and Experience:
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with programs such as PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, and Microstation.
  • Experience in documenting engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of design codes and standards including NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $88,000 - $102,000
