Job Overview

Position: Electrical Engineer III

City Light & Power, Inc. is a premier engineering firm specializing in electric utility solutions, with a robust history of over two decades in managing electrical utility systems, enhancements, maintenance, and operations.

We are currently in search of skilled Electrical Engineers with a focus on power systems and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience to contribute to our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and commercial/industrial power distribution networks.
  • Generate conceptual design alternatives, perform engineering calculations, and prepare estimates for small-scale system enhancement projects.
  • Maintain and update GIS databases for extensive electrical distribution networks.
  • Conduct site assessments for new utility service requests, develop design alternatives, and present findings to management and clients.
  • Support Lead Engineers in significant capital upgrade initiatives.
  • Analyze electrical fault occurrences, power quality challenges, and system loading scenarios while assisting in the implementation of corrective measures.
  • Acquire and maintain a solid understanding of power system protection and relaying strategies for electrical distribution systems.
  • Create system models for large-scale power systems using ETAP or similar software and conduct various power system analyses.
  • Coordinate and participate in field assessments with clients to clarify project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, with a preference for power systems emphasis.
  • Proficient in power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination.
  • Five to eight years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with ETAP or similar engineering software.
  • Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to client sites.

Additional Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain Military Base Security Access Clearance.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, life insurance, a 401k plan with company contributions, paid time off, and holidays.
  • Salary range: $108,000-$138,000, commensurate with experience, plus eligibility for a Short Term Incentive Plan.
