POSITION SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will take charge of evaluating, scheduling, and planning on-premise server infrastructure, ensuring quality assurance and automation for infrastructure testing, as well as managing the lifecycle of infrastructure.

Additional tasks will encompass conducting gap analyses and recommending enhancements for both current and future platforms, ensuring that operational stability standards are achieved or surpassed for service delivery to application owners.

This role involves direct collaboration with various product owners within the team, including those specializing in SAN storage, virtualization, microservices, and networking. The candidate will also engage with cross-functional teams to devise solutions and strategies for the Software Defined Data Center at Saxon Global.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and support existing lab infrastructure by adhering to established ticketing and resource scheduling protocols.
  • Engage in the assessment of both new and existing server infrastructure capabilities and features to ensure compliance with requirements for ongoing applications and new service offerings.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions with both internal and external colleagues to ensure that proposed solutions align with business and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and operational teams to identify unmet requirements and challenges, providing recommendations for solutions.
  • Work alongside peers on automation related to compute and storage certification, bare metal provisioning, and domain-specific automations.
  • Establish standards for approved infrastructure deployments and integrations in collaboration with peers.
  • Partner with leadership to refine and enhance current processes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in administering, integrating, and designing data center infrastructure solutions, including server hardware, virtualization platforms, SAN switching, storage technologies, basic networking, and Cloud Management Platforms.
  • At least five years of experience in designing both physical and virtual solutions for cloud architectures utilizing blade and rack mount server platforms.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in designing and engineering Software Defined Data Center solutions aimed at workload optimization and placement.
  • Familiarity with Cisco UCS B-Series infrastructure and UCS Manager.
  • Knowledge of Workflow Orchestration platforms and container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Proficiency in BASH/Shell, Python, Ansible, or similar scripting languages.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Capable of professional communication with peers and solution vendors through various approved channels.
  • Skilled in scheduling and coordinating multiple projects while clearly communicating project requirements and objectives.
  • Able to meet deliverable objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of telecommunications or related service provider technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with infrastructure logging and monitoring solutions for alerting and reporting purposes.
  • Experience with automated builds of new data center infrastructure deployments utilizing Workflow Automation platforms.
  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with Object Storage solutions.
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA Data Center, Linux Foundation Certified Engineer, Linux Foundation Kubernetes Administrator, VMware VCP, and NetApp Certified Data Administrator.
