POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accounting Specialist will report directly to the Controller and is tasked with executing the daily operations of the accounting cycle for D.C. United and its affiliated entities. This role involves processing financial transactions to maintain a comprehensive and precise general ledger, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate should possess a keen attention to detail, demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines, and proactively identify potential issues while suggesting enhancements to internal processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and process daily invoices, subcontracts, check requests, and related documentation for accuracy and adherence to financial policies, procedures, budgetary constraints, and contractual obligations.
  • Manage payment processing through the Mineral Tree payment system.
  • Prepare entries for the general ledger.
  • Maintain schedules for asset and liability rollforwards, including intercompany transactions.
  • Oversee revenue recognition schedules for ticket sales, sponsorships, and various revenue streams.
  • Update cash journals with daily financial activities.
  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes, including accruals.
  • Support the annual audit by providing necessary documentation, investigating discrepancies, and addressing inquiries.
  • Perform a variety of accounting and administrative tasks to support the accounting department.
  • Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in corporate accounting.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting/ERP software.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and collaborative skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
