Senior Pharmacy Accounts Manager

The Pharmacy division is dedicated to delivering pharmacy benefit management services and strategies that align with Blue Shield's goals for affordability and membership growth. The Senior Pharmacy Accounts Manager will report directly to the Director of Pharmacy Services. In this capacity, you will contribute to strategies aimed at enhancing pharmacy membership growth and retention.

Your ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Pharmacy Accounts Manager is accountable for leading the pharmacy accounts and sales support team, facilitating employer group account management, client renewals, and new membership acquisition for both fully insured and self-funded pharmacy plans. This role will also be instrumental in the development of pharmacy product strategies and initiatives.
In this position, you will:
• Oversee the management of program operations and personnel
• Be accountable for promoting and executing the overall vision, goals, and objectives of the business unit
• Ensure coordination of program activities with other business units while monitoring operational metrics to meet accreditation, regulatory, and compliance standards
• Identify opportunities for performance improvement to meet or exceed benchmarks and advise on urgent issues
• Supervise the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of programs aimed at enhancing quality and cost-effectiveness
• Collaborate with business unit teams to support planning and formulate pharmacy strategies that align with growth and profitability objectives
• Work with sales teams to devise pharmacy request for proposal (RFP) strategies and responses
• Partner with underwriting to create Rx pricing and guarantee strategies for self-funded groups to enhance competitive positioning
• Lead the creation and maintenance of an integrated pharmacy value proposition to support membership growth and retention
• Manage the team and collaborate cross-functionally to address client issues, respond to inquiries, and ensure compliance with client contract guarantees and deliverables
• Guide the team in providing consultative support and developing training materials, presentations, and sales collateral related to pharmacy offerings and value propositions as necessary
• Actively participate in client renewals, broker meetings, and finalist presentations to promote the pharmacy value proposition
Your Qualifications
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a managed care environment, including 3 to 5 years in a management role or equivalent
• Active and unrestricted California Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license required
• Experience in presenting pharmacy program value to clients, brokers, and consultants is preferred
• Familiarity with pharmacy benefit client contracting and market requirements is advantageous
• Exceptional presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences
• Strong business acumen with proven experience in strategy development and planning
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is: $145,970.00 to $218,900.00 for California.
Note:
This range reflects the compensation for this and other positions at Blue Shield that fall within this pay grade. Compensation is determined by various factors, including the candidate's experience and current employee salaries for similar roles.
