Position Overview:

The Health & Safety Manager is a key role reporting directly to the Plant Manager, responsible for spearheading the development and execution of a comprehensive Health and Safety strategy aligned with Pactiv Evergreen's corporate policies and regulatory standards. This position encompasses oversight of the Pine Bluff Mill and associated Chip Mills, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while also managing plant security, emergency response initiatives, and fire safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the formulation and execution of Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Oversee the safety aspects of all regulatory audits, both internal and external.
  • Implement the Health and Safety Management Technical Standards set by Pactiv Evergreen.
  • Maintain and update OSHA-required documentation and conduct necessary training sessions.
  • Supervise the reporting and investigation processes for any incidents related to health and safety.
  • Provide strategic leadership by identifying improvement opportunities and implementing effective solutions.
  • Champion a culture of Zero Harm within the organization.
  • Conduct essential health and safety training to bolster the organization's safety culture.
  • Develop and deploy best-practice policies and procedures in alignment with Pactiv Evergreen's systems.
  • Facilitate communication and training for plant management, ensuring effective reporting and assessment protocols.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Health & Safety departments to provide technical guidance for Health & Safety projects.
  • Maintain a strong focus on injury prevention, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Align local teams and influence stakeholders to meet Health & Safety performance goals.
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for enhancing Health & Safety performance.
  • Leverage innovative compliance and risk reduction strategies through employee engagement and behavior-based safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or the ability to obtain certification within six months.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in health and safety within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proven project management abilities, capable of managing multiple projects from inception to completion.
  • Effective leadership and motivational skills, with a track record of influencing others to achieve results.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours during critical business periods.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 5%).
  • Team-oriented with a strong collaborative spirit.
