The Health & Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of employees by reporting directly to the Plant Manager. This position is responsible for establishing a proactive Health and Safety strategy that aligns with Pactiv Evergreen's corporate policies, vision, and values, while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the formulation and execution of Health & Safety policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Manage the safety components of all regulatory audits, both internal and external.
  • Implement the PTVE Health and Safety Management Technical Standards effectively.
  • Maintain and update OSHA-required documentation and provide necessary training.
  • Oversee the investigation and reporting of any incidents related to health and safety.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions to enhance safety performance.
  • Foster a culture of Zero Harm within the organization.
  • Conduct essential health and safety training to bolster the organization’s safety culture.
  • Develop and implement best-practice policies and procedures in line with PTVE standards.
  • Communicate effectively with plant management and maintain ongoing training and assessment programs.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Health & Safety departments to prioritize and guide safety projects.
  • Commit to continuous improvement in injury prevention, compliance, and risk management.
  • Align local teams with corporate safety objectives and influence performance outcomes.
  • Analyze data to identify further opportunities for enhancing health and safety measures.
  • Utilize innovative compliance and risk reduction strategies through employee engagement and behavior-based safety programs.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or the ability to obtain certification within six months.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in health and safety within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proven project management abilities, managing multiple projects from inception to completion.
  • Effective leadership and motivational skills to drive results.
  • Flexibility to work during critical business periods.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and performance.
