Overview:


Barr Engineering Company is in search of an environmental engineer to engage in impactful and innovative work on projects focused on the assessment, analysis, and remediation of contaminated environments.

Responsibilities may encompass leading interdisciplinary teams; crafting technical work plans and documentation; assessing contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion; performing evaluations of remediation technologies and feasibility assessments; formulating site management strategies, remedial designs, and response action plans; and orchestrating site remediation efforts.

The role may occasionally require short-term travel assignments.

Key Responsibilities:


Key responsibilities will also include the preparation of proposals, scopes of work, and financial estimates; liaising, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory bodies; and comprehensive project oversight.

Additional duties may involve mentoring staff, fostering client relationships, and contributing to business growth.

Other tasks may include conducting on-site evaluations of contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and soil gas; performing aquifer tests and analyses; and overseeing construction activities.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering or related fields
10 or more years of pertinent work experience
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with project teams, regulators, and clients
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
Proficient computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications
A flexible working approach and the capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively with specialized teams to fulfill client and project requirements
Willingness to travel and occasionally adjust personal schedules to accommodate project demands (including up to 10% travel; project needs may vary seasonally and over time)
Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr Engineering Company, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in engineering or a related field
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain registration within one year
Familiarity with environmental regulations, including knowledge of relevant programs
40-hour HAZWOPER certification
Experience in project management and leadership with complex initiatives
Experience in conducting communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory personnel
Experience in mentoring staff, building client relationships, and driving business development
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position, allowing for a combination of office and remote work.

NOTE:

Some work environments may involve challenging terrain typical of construction sites and may require entering and working within facilities that have limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial settings.

Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and locations requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical examination may be necessary. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be required to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
