Position Overview

Your Role

We are looking for a Civil Engineer with extensive municipal experience to enhance our collaborative team of technical and business experts. In this role, you will engage directly with municipal staff to effectively oversee and execute multi-disciplinary projects. As the Project Engineer/Assistant Township Engineer, you will coordinate and lead project teams, delivering engineering and construction services primarily within urban environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the design and production of plans for public improvement initiatives, encompassing underground utilities, non-motorized pathways, and park enhancements.
  • Conduct and oversee technical evaluations of public infrastructure and land development applications, including the coordination of specialized reviews by external experts.
  • Facilitate ongoing collaboration between developers and municipal staff from the initial concept through to the construction of public improvements.
  • Manage the review process for plot and building plans related to construction permits.
  • Organize and participate in preconstruction meetings for municipal and developer-led projects, ensuring seamless communication between design and field services during construction.
  • Attend development-related meetings with applicants and municipal staff, including occasional evening planning sessions.
  • Support construction services staff and provide intermittent oversight during construction phases.
Qualifications

Skills and Experience
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with project teams and clients, including representation at public meetings.
  • Self-driven and proactive, with a strong ability to keep projects on schedule and moving forward.
  • Proficient in GIS, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of civil engineering design experience, particularly in municipal services, with a preference for candidates with construction experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is preferred but not mandatory.
