Paralegal Specialist

The Paralegal will provide support to commercial sales and service teams with respect to legal review of customer terms, bid tender submissions, HIPAA Business Associate Agreements, and customer disputes. The Paralegal will also support commercial sales and services with legal review of government contract terms and conditions. Additionally, the Paralegal will draft commercial sales and services agreements with customers, including revisions to customer terms and conditions. The Paralegal will also draft standard agreements, engage with external customers and their legal representatives, and provide guidance as required. The Paralegal will perform legal research, maintain a library of forms and resources, and drive improvements in paralegal process and identify opportunities that impact turn around times and impact to revenue. The Paralegal will also develop written procedures, work flow plans, or other systems for practice areas as required. The Paralegal will professionally and diplomatically resolve issues regarding customer concerns and other matters as necessary. The Paralegal will apply innovative problem solving skills and judgment to assist in managing corporate risk. The Paralegal will identify best practices to influence continuous improvement in the organization. The Paralegal will work closely with business units, as necessary, while maintaining independent judgment and decision-making skills. The Paralegal will apply analytical skills to interpret data and use independent judgment and discretion in developing solutions to address a variety of issues regarding contracts and related problems of moderate scope and complexity. The Paralegal will quickly acquire knowledge of new business activities or issues. The Paralegal will adjust to changing job requirements and priorities in order to meet dynamic needs and workflow. The Paralegal will work in a team-oriented environment and meet tight deadlines. The Paralegal will demonstrate a high degree of organizational skills and professionalism. The Paralegal will have strong presentation and written and verbal communication skills; strong project management skills. The Paralegal will have a BA/BS from an accredited college or university, a paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited school (or any equivalent combination of related experience, training, and/or education), plus five or more years of experience as a paralegal which should preferably be in-house for a corporation. The Paralegal will have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The Paralegal will have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The Paralegal will have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. The Paralegal will have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. The Paralegal will have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and to draw and interpret bar graphs. The Paralegal will have MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and the Internet. The Paralegal will have a strong computer software background and be comfortable gaining proficiency quickly as the department utilizes various third party software applications. The Paralegal will have a Paralegal Certificate, CLA/CP Certification or equivalent paralegal experience. The Paralegal will have no supervisory responsibilities.
