Position Overview
CNA is in search of a seasoned Accounting Consultant to become a vital member of the Accounting Policy Team. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company's accounting policies and practices align with US GAAP, IFRS, and Statutory standards, adhering to the latest regulations set forth by FASB, IASB, and NAIC.

The Accounting Policy Team supports senior management and various departments by conducting research, interpreting accounting guidelines, consulting on intricate transactions, and preparing detailed technical accounting documentation. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in accounting policy research or insurance accounting, coupled with exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a key advisor to the business, leading the accounting analysis of complex and non-routine transactions.
- Provide accounting policy expertise for large, cross-functional initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and regulatory standards.
- Engage in projects such as:
- Impact analysis and implementation of newly issued GAAP, IFRS, and statutory accounting guidance.
- Benchmarking analysis against industry peers.
- Accounting evaluations of new enterprise initiatives.
- Monitor developments in accounting standards and regulatory guidance from organizations such as FASB, SEC, and NAIC to identify emerging issues.
- Lead educational sessions for stakeholders to communicate key insights regarding emerging accounting matters.
- Offer accounting analysis and advice to leadership to resolve technical challenges; draft and review technical accounting documentation.
- Collaborate with external auditors for the review of technical accounting memos.
- Continuously assess and challenge existing policies and procedures, implementing improvements as necessary.
- Manage additional accounting and finance special projects as required.

Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Director.

Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and Statutory accounting principles.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, capable of working with personnel at all levels and articulating complex technical accounting issues to a diverse audience.
- Proficient in exercising professional judgment and making recommendations to management.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to dissect complex issues and drive resolutions.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Typically requires 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in accounting.
- Previous experience in audit at a public accounting firm, within the insurance sector, or in an accounting policy research capacity is advantageous.
