Job Summary

The Disability Services department at Kentucky Community and Technical College System is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to serve as a Disability Services Coordinator. This role will be responsible for providing direct services to students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct services to students with disabilities, including intake, orientation, advising, testing, and accommodations.
  • Review medical, psychological, and academic disability documentation to recommend reasonable accommodations for students.
  • Collect and maintain data related to services provided to students with disabilities.
  • Provide community awareness and education to faculty, staff, and administration about disability issues.
  • Coordinate and implement program activities and professional development on disability awareness.
  • Maintain a caseload of students and stay professionally current with best practices and legislation for disability services.
  • Actively participate on assigned college and community committees that promote a supportive environment for students with disabilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related professional experience providing direct service to students with a wide range of disabilities within a postsecondary institution.
  • Computer literacy required (Microsoft Windows based software).
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft and assistive technology software/equipment (Braille Embosser, JAWS, Kurzweil, ZoomText, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience using technology and willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate student needs.
  • Strong administrative skills, organized, and ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to coach students, provide triage, and follow-up.
  • Patient, persistent, and a visible passion for students and their success.
