Position Summary

The Culinary Service Associate is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the preparation and serving of food and beverages across different food service settings. Responsibilities may include the preparation of salads, hot and cold dishes, and assisting in the baking process as needed. This role also involves maintaining cleanliness in work areas and equipment, as well as assisting in the setup and service of food items.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food service areas, ensuring all equipment and utensils are set up according to operational needs; monitor food temperatures and prepare for daily service.
  • Transport food and supplies from the main kitchen or bakery to serving locations, utilizing appropriate methods.
  • Adhere to established procedures for setting up food lines, selecting proper utensils, and ensuring correct temperature settings for menu items.
  • Assist in the preparation of various food items, including hot and cold dishes, beverages, salads, and simple baked goods.
  • Serve food items to customers, ensuring proper portion sizes and presentation.
  • Replenish food items and supplies at serving stations as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of food service areas, including washing dishes and utensils, and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Monitor equipment and food supplies, reporting any issues or spoilage as needed.
  • May perform cashier duties and assist in training new staff members.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with inventory control and food service operations.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Capability to use cleaning tools and supplies safely.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy items as required.
  • Knowledge of food preparation standards and methods.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience in food service or related fields.
  • Higher education credentials may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds. The role involves standing, walking, and some bending or kneeling. The work environment is generally safe and free from hazards.
