Position Overview

SUMMARY: The primary role of the Commercial Banking Team Leader is to ensure that their designated team meets its financial and credit quality objectives. This will be achieved by fostering workforce stability through the recruitment, development, and retention of exceptional Business Bankers. The Team Leader will also oversee the implementation of sales service strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
  • Creating workforce stability by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Motivating and guiding team members while tracking progress against individual goals.
  • Setting high performance expectations and supporting the team in achieving these goals through coaching and embodying the core values of BankUnited.
  • Overseeing the execution of sales service strategies, collaborating with key service partners to provide support and coaching focused on the customers' overall financial well-being, ensuring a premium banking experience.
  • Connecting strategic objectives to daily operations and regularly communicating successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Effectively planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating team processes to drive success.
  • Empowering team members to assist clients and prospects in achieving financial success by enhancing their presentation skills, industry knowledge, and profiling techniques.
  • Participating in daily activities with team members to ensure business acumen, interpersonal skills, and presentation abilities are honed.
  • Providing coaching and training to drive improvement in necessary areas.
  • Focusing on increasing product penetration and retention by introducing clients to the full range of BankUnited's offerings.
  • Utilizing reporting and sales tools to proactively identify and drive results.
  • Encouraging the team to build a robust pipeline of prospects, centers of influence, and client referrals.
  • Identifying and mitigating various risks (regulatory, reputational, operational, and credit risks) by coaching the team on the skills necessary to analyze, evaluate, and manage these risks.
  • Assuming a leadership role within the bank's geography and serving as a mentor to junior associates in other divisions.
  • Being accountable for the credit quality of the team's portfolio, including timely reviews, compliance, and payment collections.
  • Implementing and adhering to structured credit processes and conducting regular portfolio management discussions.
  • Ensuring compliance with bank and credit policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Collaborating with Business Bankers on credit consultations and ensuring viable business opportunities are effectively managed.
  • Coaching team members and assisting in developing and executing action plans.
  • Contributing to the development of campaigns and promotions.
  • Adhering to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering.
  • Complying with bank policies and completing required training.
  • Identifying and reporting suspicious activities.
EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.

EXPERIENCE
  • 6+ years of relevant banking sales experience and credit training are required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Strong experience in outside sales and cold calling is essential.
