Job Summary

This role plays a pivotal part in developing and delivering career development courses as part of the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering Career Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing high-impact career development programs that cater to the needs of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Senior Associate Director to develop and refine career course curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant and effective in meeting student needs and industry trends.
  • Teach up to 8 sections of career development courses per year, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of career development principles and practices.
  • Provide one-on-one advising to students, focusing on topics such as self-assessment, career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and salary/job offer negotiation.
  • Update course resources and content each semester, incorporating feedback from students and industry experts to ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant.
  • Develop and present career workshops and programming to Luddy students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen careers.
  • Work closely with colleagues within Luddy and on the IUB campus to ensure career success for Luddy students, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments, providing students with accurate and timely information on the skills and competencies sought by employers.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of education and experience in career development, education, or a related field. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field is required, with a master's degree preferred. The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in career consulting or a related field, with a proven track record of developing and delivering effective career development programs.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff. They will also have a high degree of professionalism, with a commitment to quality and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.

Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

The person hired for this role will be expected to travel and attend occasional professional development conferences.
