Position Overview: The Associate Director for Career Readiness plays a pivotal role within the Hart Career Center, spearheading initiatives that enhance student career development. This is a full-time, on-campus role that offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, generous leave, and access to various tuition scholarship programs for employees and their dependents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Career Counseling and Readiness: Provide strategic vision and direct counseling services addressing career-related issues at all stages of development. This includes fostering self-awareness, exploration, decision-making, implementation, management, and re-careering. Offer expertise in preparing for graduate and professional schools, engage in one-on-one career counseling, administer and interpret career assessment tools, and identify internship and experiential learning opportunities. Assist students with job preparation activities and conduct informal seminars and outreach programs.
  • Educational Outreach and Career Exploration: Lead and innovate an effective career outreach program. Collaborate with faculty to connect classroom learning with career initiatives. Design, organize, and implement a comprehensive career educational outreach strategy, effectively promoting the office and its associated programs.
  • Graduate School Advisement: Guide students through the graduate school admissions process, staying updated on current trends. Assist programs aimed at preparing students for graduate and professional school applications, including test preparation for GRE, LSAT, and others.
  • Career Immersion Program: Co-lead the annual Career Immersion Excursion program in collaboration with the Associate Director for Career Engagement. Plan and execute a four-day, three-night career discovery trip.
  • Supervision and Office Management: Oversee the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of the Health Science Career Counselor and two student workers. Responsible for developing and updating policies and procedures related to career readiness, as well as assisting with departmental assessments, including annual reports and outreach effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in career development and/or college student development theory and academic advising.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $52,000 to $54,500, commensurate with experience.
