We are seeking remarkable individuals to provide exceptional care as a Surgical Technology Support Specialist.

Position Overview:
This role is designed for current students enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Work Schedule:
Part-time with flexible hours to accommodate academic commitments.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Surgical Technology Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting with the instrumentation and technical aspects of surgical procedures. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in gathering necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Preparing surgical rooms with appropriate disinfectants, managing room turnover, and restocking supplies.
  • Participating in the opening of sterile supplies under the guidance of the circulator or scrub tech staff.
  • Setting up work areas by draping, preparing, and testing equipment, as well as organizing instruments.
  • Scrubbing, gowning, and gloving in accordance with the procedure, and assisting surgeons with gowning and gloving.
  • Anticipating the needs for instruments, ligatures, sponges, and irrigation, utilizing physician preference cards.
  • Monitoring for any breaches in sterile technique and addressing them promptly, while moving confidently within the sterile field.
  • Maintaining a clean field by removing used sponges, suture ends, and instruments.
  • Participating in counts of surgical sponges, needles, sharps, and instruments as required.
  • Demonstrating proper use of surgical equipment and supplies.
  • Holding retractors under the surgeon's direction, while never functioning independently as the sole scrub technologist.
  • Potentially acting as a sterile processing technician.

Qualifications:
Must be a current student in an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Current BLS certification is required at the time of hire.
