KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PATIENT SERVICE SPECIALIST
  • Foster a welcoming and professional atmosphere for patients and visitors by exemplifying outstanding customer service based on established service standards.
  • Anticipate and address the needs of patients and visitors in waiting areas, actively engaging with them to resolve any concerns.
  • Execute patient registration, pre-visit preparations, insurance verification, and scheduling tasks while ensuring accuracy and an exceptional patient experience.
  • Adhere to telephone etiquette and service standards when communicating with patients over the phone.
  • Conduct point-of-service activities, including visit preparation, co-pay collection, and patient record management, ensuring precision and a positive patient experience.
  • Encourage patient engagement with the NG Patient Portal, enhancing utilization rates and improving the overall patient experience.
  • Provide guidance and hands-on training to patients regarding front-end technology to promote comfort and understanding.
  • Process daily workflow efficiently.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at process improvement.
  • Communicate staff messages effectively.
  • Collaborate and communicate efficiently with clinical staff, including providers and nurses.
  • Adhere to compliance policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PATIENT SERVICE SPECIALIST
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance processing, or customer service is required.
  • Proven track record in delivering exceptional customer service and resolving conflicts.
  • An Associate's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree may also substitute for the experience requirement.
