Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our team at Boston Properties, Inc. As a key member of our engineering staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and providing exceptional service to our tenants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems.
  • Supervise and manage a team of engineers and technicians to ensure efficient and effective operation of building systems.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with tenants, vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and improve building operations.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of funds and minimize waste.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices to ensure our buildings remain competitive and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in building operations and maintenance, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Accredited technical school, military, or college certification in HVAC and/or Operating Engineering Technologies.
  • License(s) for applicable jurisdiction and equipment, including NYR Manhattan QO1 Refrigeration Engineers License, S-12 Sprinkler COF, S-13 Standpipe single zone COF, S-14 Standpipe multi zone COF, Air compressor COF.
  • LEED G-Pro, LEED GA, and LEED AP O&M certifications preferred.
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving abilities, with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, and use arms to perform tasks.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear, and occasionally required to taste and smell.
  • Frequently required to sit, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, balance, and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally required to lift/move 50+ pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
Internal and External Contacts
  • Regularly interfaces with tenants, various Boston Properties staff, vendors, construction professionals, and consultants.
Reporting Structure
  • The Chief Engineer will receive supervision and direction from the Director, Engineering.
Salary Range

$56-$80 per hour, with a total package including Union benefits.
