POSITION TITLE: Property Manager

DEPARTMENT: Property Management

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Manager - Property Management

LOCATION: Yonkers

SALARY RANGE: $70,000 - $80,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Property Manager is accountable for the promotion, leasing, tenant engagement, regulatory compliance, and rent collection for both residential and commercial properties under the management of Westhab. This role is crucial in maintaining the quality of life and value of the properties managed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the marketing and leasing of available units, including tenant qualification, interviews, and selection.
  • Ensure accurate billing and prompt rent collection.
  • Initiate legal proceedings as necessary and collaborate with legal counsel to navigate the legal process.
  • Coordinate the turnover of vacant units with the Facilities department.
  • Utilize Westhab's property management software and client database effectively.
  • Prepare and manage building operating budgets.
  • Ensure adherence to government programs, including the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, and manage lease renewals and tenant income re-certifications as required.
  • Address and resolve operational issues by collaborating with Westhab staff, tenants, property owners, and government entities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's Degree is preferred; an Associate's Degree is required along with a minimum of five years of experience in property management, particularly in affordable housing. Strong communication skills are essential. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and property management software (such as MRI or equivalent) is required. The candidate must be highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently. A valid NYS Driver's License and access to a vehicle are necessary. Bilingual skills are advantageous.
