Senior Accountant Job Description

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Pearce Bevill Leesburg Moore PC. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for directing and executing tax services for our clients, including planning, directing, and completing assignments. You will also lead a team of staff accountants, instructing them in work to be performed, reviewing their work, and directing necessary revisions.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Perform diversified accounting and tax assignments under the direction of supervisor, manager, and shareholder.
* Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
* Meet time constraints and client deadlines.
* Participate in planning and scheduling client engagements.
* Direct and instruct assistants in work to be performed and work paper review.
* Prepare and index work papers to document procedures and conclusions reached in the engagement.
* Perform the broadest range of accountant tasks to ensure efficient and effective participation of supervisors, managers, or shareholders.
* Prepare other reports, projects, and duties as assigned.
* Know, understand, and follow the firm's policies and procedures.
* Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants.
* Begin acquiring skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty.
* Assist with formal training programs.
* Maintain university contacts and participate in on-campus and office visits to recruit new staff.
* Groom business contacts and participate in local community organizations to expand marketing network.
* Build productive relationships with managers, supervisors, and shareholders by keeping them informed about work progress and adapting to various management styles.

**Qualifications**

* Dedicated individual that values integrity, quality, and professionalism.
* Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of accounting tasks and tax knowledge.
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
* Either holds a current and valid certified public accountant's license or is working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the CPA exam. If licensed, should be a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Alabama Society of CPA's (if applicable).
* Proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting / tax software programs.
