Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing tax services to our clients, including planning, directing, and completing tax engagements. You will also be responsible for leading a team of staff accountants, instructing them in work to be performed, reviewing their work, and directing necessary revisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tax services to clients: Plan, direct, and complete tax engagements, including tax return preparation and planning.
  • Lead a team of staff accountants: Instruct them in work to be performed, review their work, and direct necessary revisions.
  • Meet time constraints and client deadlines: Ensure that all work is completed on time and to the satisfaction of clients.
  • Participate in planning and scheduling client engagements: Work with clients to understand their needs and develop plans to meet those needs.
  • Direct and instruct assistants: Provide guidance and instruction to assistants on work to be performed and work paper review.
  • Prepare and index work papers: Document procedures and conclusions reached in engagements.
  • Perform a broad range of accountant tasks: Ensure that direct participation of supervisors, managers, or shareholders is efficient and effective.
  • Prepare other reports and projects: As assigned by supervisors, managers, or shareholders.
  • Know, understand, and follow firm policies and procedures: Ensure compliance with firm standards.
  • Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants: Develop and maintain technical skills to lead and supervise staff.
  • Begins acquiring skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty: Build relationships with clients and develop a loyal client base.
  • Assist with formal training programs: Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain university contacts and participate in on-campus and office visits to recruit new staff: Develop relationships with universities and participate in recruitment efforts.
  • Groom business contacts and participate in local community organizations to expand marketing network: Develop relationships with business contacts and participate in community organizations to expand marketing efforts.
  • Build productive relationships with managers, supervisors, and shareholders: Keep them informed about work progress and adapt to various management styles.
  • Begins developing a command of pertinent IRC sections and regulations: Develop knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  • Becomes proficient at tax research: Develop skills in tax research, including knowledge of reference sources available by the firm.
  • Assumes responsibility for the supervision of tax return preparation engagements: Lead and supervise tax return preparation engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Dedicated individual that values integrity, quality, and professionalism: Demonstrate a commitment to integrity, quality, and professionalism.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in public accounting: Demonstrate a progression in complexity of accounting tasks and tax knowledge.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or master's degree in accounting: From an accredited college or university.
  • Either holds a current and valid certified public accountant's license: Or is working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the CPA exam.
  • Proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting / tax software programs: Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills and accounting software.
