Position Overview

The High Power Electromagnetics Division is seeking a highly skilled and imaginative Power Electronics Engineer to engage in research and development initiatives, facilitating the transition of groundbreaking technologies to key defense and energy sectors. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a team of accomplished engineers, physicists, and technicians, contributing to both established and emerging projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and analyze sophisticated high-power solid-state switching systems and associated devices.
  • Conduct simulations and modeling using SPICE, thermodynamic, and electromagnetic techniques.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and maintain detailed project records.
  • Support the technical leadership in the advancement of Applied Research and Pulsed Power systems.
  • Participate in field testing activities as required, which may involve moderate travel.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years with a Master's degree in relevant fields such as Power Electronics or Pulsed Power.
  • Proficiency with data acquisition tools and software, including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with data processing and circuit design software.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks related to the role.
  • Eligibility for a DoD Top Secret clearance is mandatory.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for security clearance purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Power Electronics with experience in Pulsed Power and Directed Energy applications.
  • Active security clearance with the DoD or DoE.
  • Experience in areas such as pulsed power, capacitor chargers, and thermal design.
  • Proficiency in using COMSOL Multiphysics for power electronics applications.
