Lead Consulting Engineer for IP Solutions

As a Principal Consulting Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in addressing the needs of our clients and their sales teams, serving as a trusted advisor for our IP products and solutions. A robust technical foundation, a comprehensive understanding of the sales process, and a self-driven attitude are essential for success in this position. You will frequently be tasked with guiding the necessary steps towards the technical endorsement of Nokia's solutions, either directly with clients or through collaboration with systems engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with sales personnel (executives, managers, engineers) to identify opportunities and drive the IP business to successful closure.
- Formulate the technical strategy for each opportunity alongside the sales team and facilitate its acceptance by the client.
- Engage with key decision-makers at client organizations, effectively communicating the capabilities of Nokia's IP products and the tailored solutions being presented.
- Create technical documentation, including white papers and presentations, to illustrate how Nokia's offerings can lead to client success.
- Partner with Product Line Managers to influence product development based on feedback from customers and industry trends.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a customer-facing technical pre-sales role, particularly with Hyperscaler and Cloud companies, or equivalent experience in designing and operating IP networks.
- Experience in a technical leadership capacity, managing programs with multiple stakeholders.
- A profound understanding and hands-on experience with the following technologies:
- IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols, including IGP (OSPF and IS-IS) and BGP.
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN technologies such as MPLS, Segment Routing, VXLAN, and IP VPNs.
- Traffic engineering methodologies including RSVP-TE and SR-TE.
- Modern Data Center networking architecture and operations.
- Familiarity with YANG models, OpenConfig, NETCONF, and network automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- A solid grasp of current networking chipset options in both Data Center and WAN environments.
- Proven product development skills, including:
- Experience in product lifecycle management.
- Ability to draft comprehensive Feature Request Documents detailing software and hardware requirements.
- Capability to articulate technical arguments to support feature development.
- Understanding of various hardware platforms and their capabilities.
- Engagement with industry standardization bodies like IETF.
