The Global Infrastructure Solutions (GIS) team is dedicated to developing and utilizing essential infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets that facilitate the swift international growth of Amazon's service-oriented architecture.

Our team emphasizes robust and scalable architectural frameworks and engineering best practices, promoting the adoption of cutting-edge AWS technologies.

Position Overview
GIS is in search of a dedicated, results-driven, and innovative Lead Software Engineer to enhance and realize our ambitious vision. You will design and implement technical solutions for regional placement automation, cross-region libraries, and tools beneficial for teams throughout Amazon.

Key Responsibilities
- Tackle some of the most complex challenges in software architecture while designing and constructing highly scalable services and solutions from the ground up.
- Collaborate closely with AWS teams to provide guidance on requirements necessary for establishing infrastructure.
- Engage with a large community of Principal Engineers, learning and sharing knowledge.
- Choose the most suitable scalable and available technologies to address intricate problems, directly influencing product design.

A Day in the Life
- Define software design, patterns, and technology selections to align with our fast-iterative approach.
- Develop software mechanisms to fulfill our objectives.
- Participate in shaping the direction of the team.
- Directly engage with partners and customers across Amazon's engineering community to maximize the value delivered.
- Experiment with various technologies, including the latest AWS offerings.

About the Team
The Global Infrastructure Solutions team is committed to building and leveraging foundational infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets essential for supporting the rapid global expansion of Amazon's service-oriented architecture. We apply fast-iterative software solutions to validate and enhance the Amazon engineering experience in this global expansion.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
- Experience mentoring, leading, or managing an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
