JOB SUMMARY: Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

MP RPO recognizes the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant as a pivotal role within the organization’s Finance & Accounting (F&A) department. This position is primarily accountable for guiding a team of accounting experts to ensure timely and precise financial deliverables while fostering operational efficiencies. The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for enhancing employee performance and engagement, driving continuous improvement, and achieving results, thereby refining the financial statement reporting and month-end closing processes. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer in a private equity-backed environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Financial Reporting Accountant
  • Prepare and review financial statements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee and optimize the month-end closing process to significantly reduce closing time.
  • Provide critical financial insights to leadership and the board to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Exemplify the company’s core values through leadership.
  • Collaborate with the broader F&A team to share successes, enhance departmental functions, and deliver high-quality results along with exceptional internal client service.
  • Establish best practices for merger and acquisition (M&A) accounting integration.
  • Review and manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions.
  • Maintain schedules for fixed assets and oversee all capital leases.
  • Implement audits and reconciliation processes for batch and billing to enhance revenue.
  • Lead compliance projects and audits.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and training of new F&A team members.
  • Regularly perform managerial tasks and complete ad hoc projects as required.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS: Senior Financial Reporting Accountant
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of corporate accounting experience, including financial reporting. A minimum of 3 years in an accounting leadership role managing a diverse team is preferred. Experience with M&A transactions and accounting integrations is advantageous.
  • Skills/Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding and proven application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Familiarity with various systems, including Sage and Centage Budgeting Software.
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint).
    • Excellent communication skills, both professional and concise.
    • Knowledge of federal and tax regulations.
    • A service-oriented mindset.
