Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Senior General Ledger (G/L) Accountant

At MP RPO, we recognize the vital role of the Senior G/L Accountant within our Finance & Accounting (F&A) department. This position is primarily responsible for guiding a team of accounting professionals to ensure timely and precise deliverables while fostering operational efficiencies. The Senior G/L Accountant will drive employee performance, promote continuous improvement, and enhance the financial reporting and month-end closing processes. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer in a private equity-backed organization.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Accountant

  • Prepare and review financial statements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee and streamline the month-end closing process to significantly reduce closing time.
  • Provide essential financial insights to leadership and the board for informed decision-making.
  • Exemplify the company's core values through leadership and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with the broader F&A team to share successes, enhance departmental functions, and deliver high-quality results and exceptional internal client service.
  • Establish best practices for merger and acquisition (M&A) accounting integration.
  • Review and manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions.
  • Maintain schedules for monthly fixed assets and all capital leases.
  • Implement auditing and reconciliation processes to boost revenue.
  • Lead audits and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and training of new F&A team members.
  • Regularly perform managerial tasks and complete ad hoc projects as needed.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE POSSESSES: Senior Accountant

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience: Over 5 years of corporate accounting experience, including financial reporting. A minimum of 3 years in an accounting leadership role managing diverse teams is preferred. Experience with M&A transactions and accounting integrations is advantageous.
  • Skills/Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Familiarity with various accounting software applications, including Sage and Centage Budgeting Software.
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint).
    • Excellent communication skills, both professional and concise.
    • Knowledge of federal and tax regulations.
    • A service-oriented mindset.
