Equine Sales Specialist

Kalmbach Feeds Inc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Equine Sales Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for promoting our top-quality nutritional products and services to area retailers and dealers, primarily focused on equine. Your primary responsibilities will include working collaboratively with the sales team to provide support within Equine nutrition, calling on veterinarians and trainers regarding our product lines, and determining market strategies & goals for each product and service. You will also be responsible for selling and marketing feed programs to the livestock producing community, conducting market research to determine customer needs, and evaluating product & service marketability. Additionally, you will be required to follow up on sales leads and make cold calls, establish & maintain industry contacts that lead to sales by developing prospects and dealers, and remain up to date on competitor information to maximize sales. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree with an Equine related focus (physiology/nutrition) or a DVM, three to five years of feed sales experience or sales experience in a related field, a proven record of accomplishment of growing and maintaining a customer base, excellent oral/written communication skills, well-developed presentation skills, and self-motivation. Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with the sales team to provide support within Equine nutrition
- Call on veterinarians and trainers regarding our product lines, primarily Tribute
- Determine market strategies & goals for each product and service
- Sell and market feed programs to the livestock producing community
- Conduct market research to determine customer needs
- Evaluate product & service marketability
- Follow up on sales leads and make cold calls
- Establish & maintain industry contacts that lead to sales by developing prospects and dealers
- Remain up to date on competitor information to maximize sales
- Establish long-term, ongoing relationships
- Balance rations and provide feeding directions for various species
- Closing deals & finalizing contacts
- Meet established sales quotas and revenue goals
- Happy to resolve problems with products and services
- Holds a master's degree with an Equine related focus (physiology/nutrition) or a DVM
- Must have three to five years of feed sales experience or sales experience in a related field
- Proven record of accomplishment of growing and maintaining a customer base
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
