Work Schedule: Full Time

Shift: Days, Monday – Friday, Salaried 6:30 AM - 3 PM

Role Overview:

The Clinical Educator for Surgical/Procedural Services plays a vital role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of Surgical Technicians within Surgical Services. This position supports a diverse team of over 100 professionals across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize educational principles and adult learning strategies to facilitate the professional growth of scrub technicians, integrating current research into training programs.
  • Design and implement orientation programs for new scrub technicians, ensuring compliance with necessary documentation and evaluating the effectiveness of the orientation process.
  • Coordinate training for new graduates and experienced scrub technicians, providing coaching and performance evaluations in collaboration with management.
  • Engage in leadership activities, serving as a positive change agent and participating in recruitment efforts.
  • Facilitate career development initiatives and succession planning for assigned staff, providing guidance on career pathways.
  • Plan and execute continuing education programs to enhance the competencies of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Act as the primary liaison with local Surgical Technology programs to foster academic partnerships and support student placements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated professionalism and effective communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and self-direction in developing educational programs.
  • Robust clinical background with proficiency in clinical processes and data analysis.
  • Expertise in aseptic techniques and surgical instrumentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently on complex projects.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of healthcare regulatory standards.
  • Experience scrubbing in multiple major surgical specialties.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program, LPN program, RN program, or equivalent military training.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a scrub technician in a clinical setting.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Florida or certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Operating Room Technician (CORT).
  • BLS certification.
