Key Responsibilities:

The Surgical Services Nurse Coordinator, in addition to fulfilling the duties of a staff nurse, is tasked with ensuring seamless nursing care for surgical and procedural patients across all demographics (from neonates to geriatrics). Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care. This role also involves acting as a team facilitator and specialty coordinator, supervising other healthcare professionals within the unit. The coordinator will assist in the orientation, training, and education of new staff members, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities for cost management and participation in performance improvement initiatives. Adherence to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations is essential. The coordinator will actively engage in delivering exceptional customer service and fostering respectful relationships.

Value Added to the Team:

  • Conducts comprehensive clinical patient care, assessing and interpreting diagnostic data relevant to patient age and condition. Administers treatments and medications in accordance with established policies and procedures, completing follow-up assessments and evaluations to gauge intervention effectiveness.
  • Leads collaborative efforts in coordinating patient care activities among the interdisciplinary team, identifying needs, and adjusting care plans as necessary. Supervises other healthcare team members in the clinical environment.
  • Acts as a communication bridge between physicians, sales consultants, internal stakeholders, and management, ensuring ongoing and pertinent dialogue.
  • Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, utilizing research and evidence-based practices to inform nursing care. Shares unit performance improvement data with staff.
  • Contributes to the budgeting process for the unit/service line, ensuring a cost-effective and quality-focused environment. Ensures availability of necessary supplies and equipment for patient care.
  • Provides input for staff performance evaluations, recognizing the need for additional skills and recommending relevant educational opportunities. Assists in the orientation, training, and education of new personnel.
  • Promotes a safe working environment by supervising and taking appropriate action in emergency situations, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and AdventHealth policies.
  • Maintains professional development through continuing education and relevant learning experiences, attending conferences and seminars related to clinical nursing, business, or management. Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth departmental operations.

*_Terms: 12-month Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation_

Sign-on Eligibility:

· Relevant experience is required.

· Internal candidates and rehires within the last 12 months are not eligible.

Relocation Eligibility:

· Must reside at least 50 miles from the campus.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Experience relevant to the unit is required for placement
  • Current valid State of Florida or multi-state Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced life support certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) as per specialty/unit requirements
  • Experience in the Operating Room

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Professional Certification
  • Experience in the Operating Room
