POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is designed to deliver academic assistance within our Lower School English classes for first graders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with the English instructor.
  • Support the pedagogical strategies and the core values of respect, integrity, inclusion, collaboration, and curiosity upheld by the school.
  • Review and understand lesson plans prepared by the English teacher to effectively lead student groups.
  • Facilitate various student group activities, including guided reading, phonics, and writing exercises.
  • Promote the well-being and academic progress of students.
  • Maintain regular communication with the English teacher regarding student development.
  • Assist the English teacher with organizational tasks and classroom materials.
  • Participate in relevant faculty training sessions to enhance skills applicable to student engagement.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Experience working with children aged 6-8.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • CPR & First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Capable of independently managing a classroom of children.
  • Aware of the developmental needs of children aged 6-8 with appropriate expectations.
  • Able to perform physical tasks such as kneeling, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying loads up to 30 lbs.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, punctuality, and minimal absenteeism.
