Job Summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed School Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will play a vital role in helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Individualized Support: Offer one-on-one counseling sessions to students, addressing interpersonal or family problems that impact their academic performance.
  • Collaborate with Educators: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop and Implement IEPs and PBIPs: Create and update Individualized Education Plans and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Conduct Assessments and Interventions: Gather information through interviews and observations to assess student social, emotional, and behavioral adjustment.
  • Communicate with Parents and Guardians: Maintain regular contact with parents to inform them of their child's progress, areas of difficulty, and any changes in home life that may impact school performance.
  • Participate in IEP Team Meetings: Attend and actively participate in IEP team meetings, facilitating discussions as needed.
  • Provide Case Management: Coordinate parent meetings, emergency transportation requests, disciplinary actions, and outside therapy services as needed.
  • Collaborate with Other Professionals: Work with education and social services professionals to develop agency services for students and their families.
  • Ensure Positive Teaching Methods: Conduct monthly climate data through direct observation of classroom staff's implementation of IEP goals and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Provide Guidance and Training: Offer guidance, consultation, and assistance to teachers in developing classroom schedules, maintaining student data systems, and facilitating student transition plans.
  • Assess Student Progress: Review classroom data collection and recording systems to assess student progress and provide applicable training and guidance to classroom staff.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or Higher: A Master's degree or higher in educational counseling, therapy, social work, or a closely related field is required.
  • Licensure and Credentials: Meet state and district requirements for appropriate licensing or credentials, including licenses such as LMFT, LPC, LMHC, LPCC, Educational Psychologist, LCSW, LMSW, C-SSWS, DCSW, LCSW-R, and Pupil Personnel Services.
  • Experience Working with Students: Prior experience working with students with emotional disorders and challenging behaviors in an education or classroom setting is preferred.
  • Advanced Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Possess advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Relevant Technology: Have experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
