Field Safety Engineer in Robotics and Mechatronics

MSP operates globally, with research and development facilities located in key regions.
Position Overview
As a Field Safety Engineer (FSE) within MSP, you will assess safety risks related to the implementation of automation and robotic projects. You will work closely with product design teams to formulate and execute risk mitigation strategies, facilitating the transition of projects into operational settings. This role also involves collaboration with suppliers and contractors during construction phases to ensure adherence to relevant regulations, industry standards, and Amazon's internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties as a Field Safety Engineer will include:
- Conducting safety risk evaluations throughout all stages of product development.
- Coordinating deployment activities with engineering, facilities, site safety, operations teams, suppliers, and contractors.
- Creating comprehensive safety protocols for contractors tasked with installing robotic systems in fulfillment centers worldwide.
- Verifying contractor qualifications to ensure they possess the necessary certifications and training to perform their duties, and reviewing their safety risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHA).
- Providing guidance to site safety, engineering, and operations teams regarding safety regulations and compliance issues related to field environments and construction safety.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% across North America and the European Union.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in an Environment, Health, and Safety discipline or a related engineering field, along with 3-5 years of experience in industrial construction projects, demonstrating a solid understanding of safety standards and regulations.
Familiarity with relevant construction safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA standards, is essential. Candidates must exhibit the ability to work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, coupled with strong verbal and written communication skills, including the confidence to present to large audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in machinery safety and knowledge of standards such as ANSI B56.5, ANSI B155.1, RIA 15.06, ISO 13849, and NFPA 79 will be advantageous.

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic regions. The base salary for this position ranges from $72,300/year in our lowest geographic market to $182,000/year in our highest geographic market. Compensation is determined by multiple factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a comprehensive compensation package that may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
