Position Overview: The Plumbing Estimator is integral to our project planning and execution, focusing on precise cost estimation, bid proposal development, and the foundational stages of project management for our grading and utility construction initiatives. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, analytical prowess, and effective communication to ensure competitive and accurate project bidding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation & Bidding: Generate precise and competitive cost estimates for plumbing and utility construction projects by scrutinizing project drawings, specifications, and related documentation. Formulate preliminary project timelines.
  • Project Feasibility Analysis: Perform comprehensive evaluations of potential projects to assess feasibility, risk, and profitability. Collaborate with the project management team to synchronize project goals and strategies. Develop a project risk matrix and devise risk mitigation plans.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Engagement: Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to solicit and assess bids, ensuring all estimates reflect current pricing and material availability. Conduct quote comparisons and provide recommendations for selection.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients throughout the bidding process to clarify project requirements and adjustments, fostering robust professional relationships. Present and elucidate project proposals to clients, designers, and operations teams.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of all estimations, bids, and initial project specifications to guarantee transparency and accuracy in project initiation. Assist in the management of historical cost databases and estimating software.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure smooth transitions from estimation to execution.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Agtek Gradework, Bid2Win, Bluebeam Revu).
  • Strong command of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth understanding of construction processes, materials, and contemporary industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and negotiation abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment and manage client interactions professionally.
  • Capable of handling multiple bids and projects concurrently under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel within local areas.
Preferred:
  • Prior field experience in surveying and/or project management.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, walk, and stand; capable of frequently lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
  • This position necessitates in-person work.
  • Professional, business casual office environment.
