Position Overview

The Senior Cost Estimator plays a crucial role in the development of comprehensive estimates and proposals across various engineering and design-build construction projects. This position is tasked with preparing and presenting detailed bids, proposals, and unit costs for a diverse array of project types and clientele.

Key Responsibilities

+ Compile material and labor costs for construction project proposals.

+ Assess and integrate quotes for bonds and insurance into the estimates for review.

+ Facilitate outreach and evaluation for small and disadvantaged business participation.

+ Execute subcontractor solicitation and pre-qualification processes.

+ Evaluate and incorporate pricing for specialty and standard equipment and materials into estimates.

+ Prepare and distribute bid packages to subcontractors.

+ Present estimating data during site and pre-bid meetings.

+ Conduct studies on subcontractor labor and market conditions, providing recommendations based on findings.

+ Develop project summary schedules.

+ Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy.

+ Assist in pre-construction services related to client estimates and joint venture evaluations.

+ Formulate and present estimating strategies and plans.

+ Research historical costs and maintain relevant databases.

+ Provide initial pricing for indirect costs and general conditions.

+ Evaluate fees, contingencies, and escalation factors, offering recommendations.

+ Ensure the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.

+ Analyze and price value engineering proposals for submission.

+ Perform additional duties as assigned.

+ Adhere to all company policies and standards.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of direct project estimating experience. Alternatively, applicable experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

+ Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively, demonstrating creative and analytical thinking, along with the capacity to make informed decisions swiftly.

+ Strong attention to detail.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office, ConEst, K-Base, AgTek, and HeavyBid.

+ OSHA 10-hour certification is required.

This position is essential for the success of our estimating team and contributes significantly to the overall project execution.
