Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Estimator to enhance our pre-construction division. Barts Electric is recognized as a premier electrical and special systems contractor, known for our commitment to excellence and reliability in the commercial electrical sector.

Role Summary:
As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you will be pivotal in the planning and execution phases of our projects, delivering precise and thorough cost assessments. Your expertise will assist project managers and clients by ensuring that all project costs are carefully evaluated and controlled.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation:
    Generate detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and project scopes. Employ various estimating software and tools to create comprehensive estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
  • Design Build and Assist Estimation:
    Prepare precise cost estimates by analyzing design narratives and preliminary floor plans. Identify scope discrepancies, value alternatives, and pricing concerns.
  • Budget Development:
    Assist in formulating initial budgetary guidance for clients, utilizing historical data to develop square footage budgets.
  • Project Documentation Review:
    Conduct comprehensive reviews of project documents, including contracts and drawings, to pinpoint potential cost implications and risks. Offer insights and recommendations to mitigate financial uncertainties.
  • Supplier Coordination:
    Source and assess quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. Negotiate terms to ensure all bids align with project specifications and budgetary limits.
  • Collaboration:
    Work in close partnership with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements and financial implications.
  • Reporting:
    Compile and present detailed reports and cost breakdowns to senior management and clients, ensuring timely submission of estimates that meet company standards.
  • Market Awareness:
    Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and new technologies that may influence cost estimation and project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    A minimum of 3-5 years in estimating within the Electrical Industry, with a proven record of estimating complex projects valued at $5,000,000.00 and above.
  • Education:
    A high school diploma is required.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Expertise in estimating software (e.g., McCormick) and Microsoft Office, along with a solid understanding of cost estimation methodologies, construction practices, and materials.
  • Analytical Skills:
    Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail and the capacity to accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Communication Skills:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Team Collaboration:
    Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Organizational Skills:
    Strong time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
