Position Overview: The Plumbing Estimator is integral to our project development and management processes. This role emphasizes precise cost estimation, preparation of bid proposals, and initial project oversight for our grading and utility construction initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, analytical acumen, and strong communication skills to ensure competitive and accurate project bidding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Generate detailed and competitive cost estimates for plumbing and utility projects by reviewing project documentation, including drawings and specifications. Develop initial project timelines.
  • Project Feasibility Analysis: Perform comprehensive evaluations of potential projects to assess viability, risks, and profitability. Collaborate with project management to align objectives and strategies, and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Vendor Coordination: Engage with vendors and subcontractors to gather and assess bids, ensuring all estimates reflect current pricing and material availability. Conduct quote comparisons and provide recommendations.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients throughout the bidding phase to clarify project specifications and foster strong professional relationships. Present project proposals effectively to clients and internal teams.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and project specifications to ensure transparency and accuracy. Assist in managing historical cost databases and estimating software.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in conjunction with project management, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate smooth transitions from estimation to project execution.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Agtek Gradework, Bid2Win, Bluebeam Revu).
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and bids under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel locally as needed.
Preferred:
  • Prior field experience in surveying or project management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform various physical activities including sitting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • This role requires in-person engagement.
  • Work is conducted in a professional, business casual office environment.
