Position Overview: The Plumbing Estimator is integral to our project development and execution phases. This role emphasizes precise cost estimation, preparation of bid proposals, and initial project management for our grading and utility construction initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, analytical prowess, and strong communication skills to facilitate accurate and competitive project bidding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Generate precise and competitive cost estimates for plumbing and utility projects by reviewing project documentation, including drawings and specifications. Formulate preliminary project timelines.
  • Project Feasibility Analysis: Perform comprehensive evaluations of potential projects to assess viability, risks, and profitability. Collaborate with project management to align objectives and strategies, creating a project risk matrix and mitigation plans.
  • Vendor Coordination: Engage with vendors and subcontractors to gather and assess bids, ensuring that all estimates reflect current pricing and material availability. Conduct quote comparisons and provide recommendations for vendor selection.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients throughout the bidding process to clarify project needs and foster strong professional relationships. Present and elucidate project proposals to clients, designers, and operational teams.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and project specifications to ensure transparency and accuracy during project initiation. Support the management of historical cost databases and estimating software.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure smooth transitions from estimation to project execution.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Agtek Gradework, Bid2Win, Bluebeam Revu).
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Capability to manage multiple bids and projects concurrently under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel locally as required.
Preferred:
  • Prior field experience in surveying and/or project management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • This position necessitates in-person work.
  • Professional, business casual office environment.
