About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to join our team at Addison Group. As a key member of our analytical sciences group, you will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to fully characterize oligonucleotide drug substances and drug product materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Experiment Design and Execution: Design and execute experiments to fully characterize oligonucleotide drug substances and drug product materials.
  • Analytical Characterization Techniques: Demonstrate proficiency with analytical characterization techniques such as mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, UV/Fluorescence, and electrophoresis.
  • Scientific Innovation: Ability to independently conceive, develop, execute, and implement novel/advanced scientific techniques.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report at project team meetings, write analytical development reports, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and support junior team members.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to develop robust analytical methods.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary teams including biology, chemistry, and platform chemistry groups.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of each delivered entity.
  • Documentation: Maintain lab notebooks, report data with analysis of results in presentations and/or written reports to the scientific team.
Required Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: The level of this position will depend on education and experience qualifications:
  • Scientist - PhD: PhD in analytical, organic chemistry or a related discipline with minimum of 4 years of direct experience in oligonucleotide analysis and formulation.
  • Scientist - PhD: PhD in analytical, organic chemistry or a related discipline with minimum of 1 year of direct experience in oligonucleotide analysis and formulation.
  • Principal Research Associate - MS: MS in analytical, organic chemistry or a related discipline with minimum of 8 years of direct experience in oligonucleotide analysis and formulation.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry is preferred, with direct experience with (semi)automated instruments.
  • Method Development Skills: Strong method development skills including experience with liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry techniques.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Chromeleon, Xcalibur, and Biopharma Finder is preferred.
  • Project Management: Experience with managing project teams in a biotechnology organization is preferred.
  • Publication History: A history of authoring publications and/or study reports.
  • Teamwork: A deep commitment to working as part of teams to deliver breakthrough medicines.
  • Communication and Organization: Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
