Job Overview

The Production Team Leader plays a crucial role in our bustling popcorn manufacturing facility, focusing on both production and equipment maintenance. This position is responsible for supervising the production workflow to achieve daily and weekly goals while also managing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of production machinery. Key duties include operating and maintaining industrial kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness, and adhering to food safety regulations. The ideal candidate excels in a collaborative environment, demonstrates keen attention to detail, and possesses the mechanical aptitude to address and resolve basic machinery issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate and maintain production machinery in accordance with company standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, performing repairs as necessary to minimize operational downtime.
  • Monitor machinery performance to ensure efficient and smooth operations, including checking critical variables such as temperature and pressure to uphold product quality and safety.
  • Oversee product quality throughout the manufacturing process, performing visual inspections and conducting tests to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain adherence to the company's Food Safety and Quality protocols, ensuring all products meet established specifications.
  • Effectively achieve daily production targets while ensuring the proper maintenance of production equipment.
  • Promptly report any safety, quality, or equipment concerns to management.
  • Follow and adapt recipes to produce high-quality popcorn while complying with food safety regulations.
  • Assist in optimizing production processes and recommend enhancements in equipment utilization to boost productivity.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the production area, following stringent sanitation protocols.
  • Keep accurate records of production data, equipment maintenance logs, quality assurance checks, and sanitation practices.
  • Rotate through various production roles as needed to support team functionality.
  • Actively participate in safety, production, and team meetings.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and attendance policies.
  • Maintain professional communication with team members and management.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience in food production is advantageous.
  • Proficient in operating industrial kitchen and production machinery.
  • Proven ability to perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on machinery.
  • Familiarity with manufacturer guidelines and the ability to interpret technical manuals.
  • Quick identification of issues and implementation of effective solutions to prevent production downtime.
  • Adaptability to changing production demands and willingness to rotate through different roles within the facility.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage team interactions and report to management.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and guide team members toward achieving production goals.
  • Problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new techniques.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate logs.
  • Comfort with routine tasks and responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

This role involves extensive physical activity, including but not limited to:

  • Standing for prolonged periods.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs as necessary.
  • Engaging in repetitive bending, lifting, and hand/arm movements.
Performance Metrics and Review Schedule

Performance will be evaluated through regular reviews, starting 90 days after the start date, followed by a six-month check-in and an annual development review in January. If performance is deemed unsatisfactory, more frequent reviews may be implemented to monitor progress. Metrics for evaluation include:

  • Meeting production requirements and completing assigned daily tasks.
  • Maintaining a consistent production rate.
  • Ensuring popcorn quality meets Poppy's standards.
  • Conducting tool changes independently and accurately.
  • Accurately entering daily production data.
  • Adhering to safety protocols.
  • Following the Employee Attendance Policy.
