The Hydroponic Crop Production Associate collaborates within a dedicated team to support the cultivation of hydroponically grown produce for our culinary operations.

This role involves close interaction with program leaders and Food & Beverage departments to assess requirements, yield, and coordinate production schedules and expenses.

Additionally, the incumbent will offer general assistance and support to leadership, the department, and the organization as needed.

Typical Schedule:
Generally Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional weekends and holidays required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planting and sowing of various crops including lettuces, herbs, and microgreens.
  • Monitoring crop health for hydration needs, nutrient levels, pest issues, and overall care.
  • Harvesting and packaging crops with attention to quality standards.
  • Adhering to all Food Safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of crops in optimal condition.
  • Providing courteous and professional assistance to team members, customers, and guests.
  • Collecting monthly water samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Managing inventory of supplies such as seeds, plant materials, and harvesting tools.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of greenhouse facilities and production areas.
  • Supporting Agritourism events with tasks including setup, breakdown, serving, and cleaning.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is mandatory; additional education or certifications are preferred. Must be eligible to obtain a pesticide applicator's license.
  • At least one year of relevant experience; a combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred candidates will have experience in vegetable and fruit production as well as hydroponic techniques.
  • Ability to identify signs of plant disease and stress.
  • Familiarity with various hydroponic systems and their functionalities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional service to both internal and external guests.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; capable of conveying information clearly and professionally.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills; able to prioritize tasks and adapt as necessary.
  • Proactive approach with sound judgment; capable of troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs repetitively.
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, and reach in various positions.
  • Work environment includes greenhouses and outdoor settings with varying weather conditions; exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, and chemicals.
  • Manual dexterity for safe operation of gardening tools, farm equipment, and vehicles.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
