Your Role:

As an Infection Control Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and oversee infection prevention and control initiatives. You will serve as a practitioner, resource, consultant, educator, and facilitator for all personnel to maintain a safe environment across our facility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervise the infection control and prevention program to identify and mitigate the spread of infections among residents and staff
  • Review, revise, and guide the execution of infection control & prevention policies and procedures
  • Manage the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, Employee Health Program, and Universal Influenza Program
  • Participate as a member of the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee
  • Ensure adherence to new hire screening, documentation, and immunization reporting in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Conduct rounds to identify potential risks, assess infection control practices, determine educational needs, and evaluate compliance with standard and transmission-based precautions
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for all staff members
  • Monitor, analyze, and present surveillance data, creating action plans in alignment with the QAPI process
  • Maintain records and reporting as mandated by state and federal regulations

Qualifications for the Role:

To be considered for the Infection Control Specialist position, candidates should possess:

  • A valid state nursing license - LPN or RN
  • A degree in nursing, epidemiology, biology, or microbiology
  • Infection Control and Prevention Certification required prior to taking on the role
  • A genuine interest in the nursing needs of the elderly and chronically ill populations
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
  • Strong clinical, organizational, and decision-making capabilities
  • Experience in a Long-Term Care or similar healthcare environment preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting
