Job Overview

The Telecommunications Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing preventive upkeep and repairs of the organization’s telecommunication facility systems to ensure optimal functionality and deliver exceptional service to our clientele. Internal stakeholders include the Facilities Engineering team and the entire Technology Solutions division, along with external partners.
Incentives: This position is eligible for a $2,500 Hiring Bonus for new employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Travel to remote Alaskan regions to conduct preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, and repairs on company facility equipment. Familiarity with the unique travel and lodging requirements of rural Alaskan areas is essential.
  • Ensure adherence to established maintenance protocols aimed at preserving building performance standards. Equipment involved includes HVAC systems, generators, battery units, UPS systems, rectifiers, fire suppression systems, and power distribution networks. Open and manage corrective tickets to address issues. May involve routine maintenance or repairs of Core Network Equipment.
  • Oversee various equipment and technology platforms, including monitoring systems, alarms, proactive troubleshooting, and providing support for field technicians. Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues and gather necessary technical information. May involve routine maintenance or repairs of Core Network Equipment.
  • Assist in the upkeep and enhancement of facility management software for scheduling, tracking work orders, and preventive maintenance tasks.

Position Details:

This is an entry-level role for the Facility Maintenance Technician. A foundational understanding of HVAC systems, generators, batteries, and AC & DC power systems is required. Responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance and testing of facility systems in compliance with applicable codes and company standards. This role operates under close supervision and requires timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in facility operations, maintenance, telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Upon hire, may be required to complete specific certifications and training within a designated timeframe.
  • Must be able to travel to remote Alaskan communities for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in electronics or a related technical field.
  • Specialization in HVAC systems, DC/AC power systems, and generators.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
Driving Requirements:
This position necessitates driving a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for company purposes. A valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record are required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Primarily sedentary work with daily computer usage.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Must be able to travel and work in remote locations, sometimes under extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs.
